Background of Old Town

Old Town Association was created in February 2017 in Mankato, MN, by local businesses teaming together to promote community growth and the distinctive experience that comes from being in downtown Mankato. Though the establishment of this association is new, the location and architecture of Old Town has been around since the 1800s. This area helped shape Mankato’s history by providing the city’s population with some of the very first shops and services. Since this time, Old Town’s businesses and services have changed and improved while still keeping their focus on serving the Mankato community.

Old Town Association’s purpose is to provide a voice to the local businesses found here and increase the exposure of these shops as well. They are committed to building a sense of community and encouraging people to shop locally. The association currently includes 36 businesses ranging from boutiques to cafes.
